The Indians senior scored nearly 80 points last week in leading Ripon to a third-place finish in the West Holiday Hoops classic, earning all-tournament honors along the way.
“He had a really good tournament,” Indians coach Dean Balcoa said. “Rebounding and scoring. He is probably one of the best athletes I have ever coached – he can jump out of the gym. He is doing a lot better on defense trying to stay on the floor and not block every shot. He is our rim protector and he has been doing a good job of that as well.
“He is a straight-line driver, he able to not get pushed out, and that has helped him out getting to the rim. He is using the backboard a lot more effectively and his jumping ability sure helps.
Madoski started the tournament Thursday with a double-double, scoring 26 points and grabbing 18 rebounds with three blocks, two assists and two steals in a 56-45 win over Kimball. Madoski poured in 29 points Friday in a 62-55 loss to Kennedy of Sacramento, making five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block. In the third-place 64-34 over Leadership of Hayward on Saturday he hit for 23 points, eight rebounds, four steals, three blocks and two assists.
“That was one of the better tournaments I have had, for sure,” Madoski said. “As a team we have been doing much better as of late, winning two out of three in the tournament.
“It was an honor to make all-tournament.”
