ROUNDUP: Lathrop, Sierra roll to landslide road wins

 Lathrop overwhelmed Grace Davis with its power-running game and defense Friday at Downey High, returning from Modesto with a 35-0 shutout in Western Athletic Conference play.

The Spartans (2-0, 4-1 overall) amassed 379 yards of offense, 364 of which came on the ground.

Andre Muqhar highlighted the attack with a 72-yard touchdown scamper in the third quarter, expanding Lathrop’s lead to 28-0. The senior ended up with nine rushes for 126 yards.

Fullback Pablo Pena added two short-yardage touchdowns, finishing with 99 yards on 16 carries. Chris Ramos added seven rushes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Edward Nelson capped the final score with a 2-yard run with 8:39 to go.

The defense held Grace Davis (1-1, 2-3) to 150 yards. Sean Teu contributed a sack.


Sierra 50, Mountain House 12

The Timberwolves (2-0, 5-1 overall) scored 21 unanswered points to start the game and didn’t look back in the Valley Oak League blowout.

Quarterback Zak Willson completed three touchdown passes, and Cole Martin threw for one in the fourth quarter. Tali Vaipuna caught two of those TDs, while Taylor Rowe and Santana Stevenson each received one.

Brock Felt scored two rushing touchdowns, and Ryan Reyes added one. Trevor Sutton contributed a 31-yard field goal and was 6-of-7 on point-after kicks.

Erin Foster had a hand in both touchdowns for winless Mountain House, sprinting 75 yards for the first score in the opening period. He later hooked up with Kaden Ransohoff for a 70-yard toucheown pass that kept the Mustangs in range while down 30-12 early in the third quarter.
