Micah De Jong ran for two late touchdowns to put Ripon Christian over the top against host Galt on Friday, 21-12. It’s the Knights’ season opener and long-awaited first game under head coach Phil Grams.
The defense clamped down following Jeremy Freitas’ 95-yard jaunt that pushed the Warriors ahead 12-7 with 5:52 left in the third. Ripon Christian recaptured the lead on the ensuing drive that was capped by De Jong’s 3-yard run. He struck again with 5:17 to go in the fourth, scoring from 5 yards out.
Derek Van Elderen paced the Knights balanced rushing attack with 80 yards on 14 attempts. They totaled 245 yards on the ground. Quarterback Trey Fasani hooked up with Griffin DeAbreu for a 13-yard touchdown and the first points of the game midway through the first quarter.
Ripon Christian’s JV also won, 14-6.

The Cougars were competitive for much of the game at Gregori High in Modesto, but costly penalties allowed Davis to punch two late touchdowns.
Coach Ron Wayman praised Namir Brown-Sanger for his play at quarterback and Jesus Gonzalez (nine tackles) on defense.
“Overall, we played a good first half and an OK second half,” Wayman said. “The score was not representative of the game. It was a tough game that went back and forth, but penalties killed us in the end.”
