RIPON — Ripon Christian used a balanced offense led by two quarterbacks, while the defense tightened up after giving up an early touchdown Friday in a 49-6 shellacking of Millennium of Tracy.
Nolan Lingley completed 5 of 6 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns. He also added an 8-yard run 6 seconds in the second quarter to push the Knights (1-0) ahead 20-6. Cade Alger made the most of his time behind center as well, finishing with 61 yards and a touchdown on 4-of-6 passing.
Ripon Christian totaled 326 yards of offense.
Michael Kamps rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns, adding a 39-yard score on a pass from Lingley. Sean McGovern and Max Steele chipped in with second-quarter touchdown receptions spanning 10 and 37 yards, respectively.
Ripon Christian was well ahead 42-6 at halftime.
The Falcons (0-1) struck first with 8:55 left in the opening quarter, as Isaiah Woods busted a 60-yard scamper. That play alone accounted for the majority of Millennium’s offensive production, as it was limited to 102 yards.
Wyatt Van Vliet racked up 11 tackles for a Knights defense that recorded six sacks, two forced fumbles and one recovery. They host rival Stone Ridge Christian of Merced next Friday.
