Manteca scored 22 first-quarter points and rode the hot legs of K.P. MacDannald to a 46-6 thumping of East Union in Valley Oak League junior varsity action.
MacDannald picked up 126 yards on 11 carries with 1-, 15- and 45-yard touchdown runs. Jacob Hernandez (six carries, 83 yards) added a 43-yard touchdown run, Landon Chamberlain scored on a 23-yard run and Marco Ramos scored from 13 yards out.
Hernandez made an interception, tipped three passes, forced a fumble and made three tackles. Luis Rivera tallied six stops and tipped a pass, Marco Ramos notched five tackles with a forced fumble and Landon Chamberlain added four stops. Daniel Bernal and Micah Crawford both contributed on defense.
Lathrop 58, Beyer 20
The Spartans jumped out to a 28-6 halftime lead and coasted to the Western Athletic Conference win.
Ryan Buccat (four carries, 97 yards) scored a trio of touchdowns for Lathrop — one on a 70-yard run, another on a 63-yard punt return and the third on a 51-yard pass from Adrian Padilla. David Villanicento (10 carries, 117 yards) added 1- and 10-yard touchdown runs, Ramon Rivas (nine carries, 40 yards) scored on a 29-yard run, Teagan Shevlin scored from 17 yards out and Nate Martinez capped the Spartan scoring on an 18-yard touchdown run.
Lathrop’s Jerome Datu blocked a punt to set up the first Spartans touchdown. Buccat made four tackles with Julio Garcia (fumble recovery), Nathan Martinez, Michael Adams, Casyn Hopping and Villanicento adding three stops apiece. Shevlin made an interception with Adrian Zuniga, Jerome Datu, Hector Nunez, Romeo Gasilas, Alexis Domingcil, Julian Contreras and Emmanuel Salcedo also contributing on the Spartans defense that held the Patriots to just 114 yards.
Freshman
Manteca 36, East Union 6
Ruben Moreno scored three touchdowns for Manteca.
Moreno (nine carries, 94 yards) scored on runs of 2, 3 and 15 yards. Damarie Long (12 carries, 51 yards) scored on a 2-yard run and Jeremy Douglas returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown.
Preston Smith was 9 of 12 passing for 95 yards for the Buffaloes and Chris Chavez pulled in three passes for 49 yards.
Moreno made five tackles and forced a fumble. Douglas tallied four tackles and Chavez made an interception. Isaiah White blocked a punt which led to one of Moreno’s touchdowns.
Cesar Salinas returned the second-half kickoff 72 yards for the lone Lancers points.
Ryan Guibor (three tackles) made an interception for East Union. Roman Guzman tallied eight tackles for the Lancers with Kennan Yang, Julian Perez and Damond Cunningham adding five stops apiece.
Sierra 34, Weston Ranch 22
Trailing 22-14 at halftime, the Timberwolves iced the game in the fourth quarter with a 63-yard return by Isaiah Lynch on an interception for a touchdown.
Lynch also scored the first Sierra touchdown when the Timberwolves running back fumbled on the way into the end zone in the first quarter and Lynch fell on the loose ball for the score.
Victor Yamamoto (10 carries, 56 yards) scored on runs of 10 and 37 yards for Sierra and Zak Willson added a 1-yard scoring plunge for the Timberwolves. Brock Felt led Sierra with 105 yards on 15 carries.
The Timberwolves notched 12 sacks and limited the Cougars to 125 total yards of offense. Yamamoto and Jesse Flores led the Sierra defense with nine tackles apiece. Lynch added six stops with Mario Juarez, Taylor Rowe and Tim Sargeson getting five stops apiece and Felt had three tackles. Jonathan Lawas, Israel San Nichols, Collins Schluer and Cameron Diego also contributed on defense.
Ahmyri Hall scored on passes of 10 and 37 yards for Weston Ranch.
