Sierra ball carrier Issac Kempf braces for impact from Manteca’s Misael Rodriguez while getting crapped up by Ricardo Robledo.

 Roman Duvernay pounded out 144 yards on 20 carries and scored two touchdowns for Manteca on Friday night in a 38-6 drubbing of host Sierra in Valley Oak League junior varsity football action at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Duvernay scored on a 1-yard run and a 12-yard pass from Jeremiah Orona (2 for 5, 52 yards) and Orona threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Angelo Aguilar. Luke Avila (eight carries, 57 yards) scored on 1-yard run and Misael Rodriguez capped the night’s scoring on a 2-yard run.

Joey Aucello led the Buffaloes (1-1 VOL, 4-1-1 overall) with five tackles.

Logan Yagi (four tackles) and Angelo Aguilar (three tackles, forced fumble) each recovered a fumble, while Gabe Strickland and Camron Spino both forced a fumble.

Daryl Carpenter hit Darien East with a 5-yard touchdown pass for the lone score for the Timberwolves (0-3, 3-3-1).


Oakdale 22, East Union 8

The Mustangs (2-0, 5-1) carried a 22-0 lead into the fourth period at Dino Cunial Stadium.

Nikko Hisatomi (six catches, 76 yards) got the Lancers (2-1, 4-2) on the board with a 9-yard touchdown catch from Ricky Soria (9 of 18 passing, 98 yards; 10 carries, 55 yards). Maddox Morales added 48 yards on eight carries.

East Union’s Damian Delgadillo and Erick Cortez made eight tackles apiece, Hisatomi six with five apiece for Jesse Martinez and Albert Menchaca.


Ripon Christian 35, Gustine 0

The Knights (5-1) scored in every period Friday night at Modesto Christian High School against former Southern League opponent Gustine (0-5) in non-league action.

Josiah Van Vliet (3 of 5 passing, 32 yards) threw touchdown passes of 4 yards to Jack DeJong and 27 yards to Hudson Schenk. Jax Booth scored from 11 yards out, Brayden Hughes (four carries, 28 yards) punched in a score from 1 yard out and Tyler Wadlow (two carries, 26 yards) posted a 24-yard touchdown run. Schenk was 5 for 5 on conversion kicks.

Dylan Segaar (interception) and Booth made five tackles apiece, with Sammy Bruno and Matt Trejos each making four stops. Heston Timmerman blocked a punt.


Lathrop 22, Ceres 22

Jayden White came up big for the Spartans (0-2-1 Western Athletic Conference, 0-5-1), but a late score by the visiting Bulldogs (1-1-1, 2-3-1) kept Lathrop from its first victory this season at Bennie Gatto Field.

White gained 93 yards on 10 carries with touchdown runs of 2 and 54 yards. Daryion Reyno found Keoni Green with an 8-yard touchdown pass for the other Spartans touchdown.

White paced the defense with seven tackles. Aiden Remonida added four stops with three apiece for Avner Fa’ali’i and Chris Sirfelix-Barney. Ayden Louie and Ekem Sohal contributed to the defensive effort.


Freshmen

Manteca 34, Sierra 6

Brody Carabello ran for three scores and threw for one on Thursday for the Buffaloes (1-1, 4-2) at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium.

Carabello (15 carries, 135 yards) scored on a pair of 5-yard runs and from 33 yards out and he threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Bode Hiatt (two receptions, 21 yards). Brixton Menchaca-Ortiz (seven carries, 50 yards) added a 2-yard touchdown run.

Hiatt made five tackles, with four coming behind the line. Camden Rodgers added five stops, Menchaca-Ortiz four with three apiece for Alex Espinoza, Josiah Moreno and Ka’Ron Grisham.


Lathrop 20, Ceres 6

Jaylen Santos ground out 123 yards on 14 carries and had a touchdown catch for the Spartans (3-0, 4-2) at Ceres, helping keep Lathrop undefeated in WAC play.

Randal Wright hit Santos with a 5-yard touchdown pass and ran in a 1-yard score, while Didier Lofaho scored on a 25-yard run. Eshan Clair puled in a 35-yard pass from Wright.

Lathrop’s Alex Smith made six tackles, Eshan Clair (fumble recovery, interception) five with four apiece for Joshua Talalele and Dario Joseph.
