Wayne Campbell passed away on December 14, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on March 14, 1943, in Norwood, Colorado, to Lester and Elizabeth (McCormick) Campbell. Wayne’s family moved to Manteca, California in 1946 where he resided for many years. He was a proud graduate of Manteca High School in 1961 and immediately enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He worked many years at the Simpson Lee Paper Mill in Ripon, California, worked as a carpenter, and worked for AAFES in Iraq as a buyer of local goods. After retirement, Wayne’s love for travel began. His travels took him to the Caribbean, Central America, and Europe. Wayne had a love for books and had a diverse collection of them. He also enjoyed collecting and shooting firearms. Wayne traveled throughout the U.S. settling in Carthage, Missouri. While living in Carthage, he was elected to the city council.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester, mother Elizabeth, brother, Joseph, daughter, Wendy, and grandsons Anthony and Dmitry.
Wayne is survived by his lifelong childhood friend, Harold (Jan) DeArmond of Modesto, California, his sisters Donna (Mike) Vasquez of Oakdale, California, and Grace (Gary) Huston of Modesto, California, daughters Theresa and Jessie of Neosho, Missouri; sons Tyrone of St. Louis, Missouri; Wesley (Joanna) of Grove, Oklahoma; and Leland (Tracey) of Bristol, New Hampshire. Wayne was a wonderful grandfather to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who also survived him. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was loved very much and will be missed greatly.
