Victoria Vivian Ettle, age 82, passed away at The Commons in Manteca on Friday, July 12th.  She was a resident of Manteca, Ca where she has lived for 64 years.  Vicky was one of four children born to William and Margaret Horne in Tracy, CA. Her parents and one of her siblings have predeceased her. Her siblings Skip Horne and Tina Ruse still live nearby.

   Vicky is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gerald Ettle. She also leaves behind her children, Janice Tanaka and Cathy Ettle, and grandchildren Greg Bagnell, Chris Bagnell and Andrew Tanaka.

   Vicky grew up in Tracy, CA and attended Tracy High School. She married Jerry in 1960. Vicky worked at the Sharpe Army Depot, the Tracy Defense Depot, and then began working in Manteca Unified School District, where she was a teacher’s aide and attendance clerk.

   Vicky enjoyed many hobbies including sports.  She was an avid snow skier, water skier and had a mean hook shot on the basketball court. She was a devoted 49er fan. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports and never missed a game. Vicky also enjoyed music and was at every concert that her daughter Cathy played. She and Jerry were very active with their friend group, going on multiple cruises to Alaska, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. For many years, she loved spending summers at the beach. Her favorite thing to do on a Sunday was to spend time at her best friend Elaine’s house swimming and barbequing.

   P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Ettle family. In her honor a service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. A burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
