Thomas Wayne Ireland, of Ripon, passed away on February 7, 2023 at the age of 70, surrounded by his family. Tom was born on August 6, 1952 in Dinuba, California and moved to Manteca shortly after.

Tom was a graduate of Manteca High School where he played football

and baseball. He met his wife Renee in Manteca and they were married on August 20, 1977 at St. Anthony’s Church.

He was a fixer, a friend, and a protector. He passed on his strong Ireland genes to both of his daughters who learned quickly how to respond to the question “Are you an Ireland” because the simple answer of yes would always guarantee a funny, rowdy, or sweet story of their Dad.  Tom’s witty sarcasm and sense of humor made anyone that knew him, love him. A man of few words, if you got Tom to smile or laugh it felt like an accomplishment and his smile instantly lit up a room. He enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe, Pinecrest, and Las Vegas with his wife Renee.  He was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching his beloved team, New York Giants. He passed down his love of the game to his daughters and grandsons and football Sundays often overshadowed any other event. He loved oldies music, classic model cars that he proudly displayed, and loved all of his animals.

He retired as a Construction Foreman after 36 years and embraced his most devoted and joyful role as Papa to his seven grandchildren. He loved every moment of being a Papa and if he was nearby you can bet his oldest grandson Austin was not far behind as that was his first buddy.  He was a proud Papa and celebrated every achievement they made. He taught them to fish, went on trips to Pinecrest and Lake Tahoe together, and taught them all about football. He attended every sporting event from their first games up to Austin’s college games whether it was baseball, basketball, karate or football. He was a constant figure in all of his grandkids' lives whether it was watching them play at the park, riding their bikes, or attending school activities from kindergarten graduations and beyond.

Tom leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Renee Ireland, his daughters Angela Ireland (Noah) and Andrea Ireland-Bonilla, grandchildren Austin Ireland-Bonilla, Jacob Thomas Kretschmann, Landon Yates, Tristan Yates, Grayson Yates, Presley Yates, and Kaylie Yates, all of Ripon. He also leaves behind his siblings Rick Ireland (Rhonda) of Lodi, Tony Ireland (Sherry) of Modesto, Susan Ireland of Stockton and Kyra Neto (Randy) of Clements.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Shirley Ireland.  A private family memorial will be held in his honor. Rest in peace Tom/Tommy/Dad/Papa. You are deeply missed already.
