Simon Weststeyn obit

Simon Weststeyn was born on December 6, 1926, in Holland and went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ in heaven on August 6, 2024. 

   He is survived by his children; Sara (Bob) Snodgrass and Henry (Shelly) Weststeyn. He is dearlyloved by his grandchildren; Greg Snodgrass, Brad (Whitnie) Snodgrass, Samantha (Jake) Rovig, Ryan Weststeyn, Mark (Emily) Weststeyn, and Amy (Corbin) Quinonez as well as his 14 great- grandchildren; Adam Snodgrass, Ashley Snodgrass, Jonathan Snodgrass, Otto Snodgrass, Zeke Snodgrass, Landon Rovig, Abigail Rovig, Gavin Weststeyn, Kohen Weststeyn, Elias Weststeyn, Heidi Weststeyn, Charlie Weststeyn, Jonah Weststeyn, and Drew Quinonez. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very proud of them.

   He was proceeded in death by his wife, Hattie, his parents, and his three sisters and two brothers in Holland.

   Simon grew up in Nieuw Vennep, Holland and immigrated to the United States in 1947. In 1954 he moved to Ripon, California. On February 10, 1949, he married his wife, Hattie. In his early years he served in the Army during the Korean war and later worked at Nestles as a painter and a farmer on his almond ranch.

   Simon was an active member of Calvary Reformed Church and served on the board as a deacon and an elder. He served on the Ripon Christian School board. He was also a Blue Diamond Almond Growers member. Simon volunteered his time at Christian Beret Thrift Store and was a M-2 Sponsor at California Youth Authority (CYA) in Stockton where he counseled and witnessed to many young men. His desire was to always help and serve others.  Simon spent his last years at Beth Haven in Ripon. He was part of the Bethany community for several years. The family is thankful for the kind, loving, and compassionate care he received from Beth Haven and Bethany Home staff.

   Graveside service will be at the Ripon Cemetery on August 16, 2024, at 

10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life services will be held at 11:00  a.m. on August 16, 2024, at Calvary Reformed Church in Ripon, California.

   Memorial gifts can be made to Bethany Home Society or Ripon Christian Schools.
