Evelyn Moore passed away peacefully in Fresno California at the age of 93.  She was born and raised in Oklahoma City, graduated from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania in the class of 1953 and moved to Manteca in 1961.

Evelyn's passion was education.  She spent her life enriching the lives of children in the Manteca community.  Her teaching career spanned 28 years including Lindbergh, French Camp and Nile Garden Schools.  After retiring in 1994, Evelyn was elected to the Manteca Unified School District Board of Education where she served for 24 years. 

With over 61 years of public service, her many titles included:  President of the Manteca Educators Association, Head of the San Joaquin County Coordinating Council, California Teachers Association State Council Representative, Delegate to the National Education Association Assemblies and San Joaquin County Area 3 representative to the California School Boards Association Delegate Assembly.  In 2008, She was inducted into the Manteca Hall of Fame.  

Evelyn also volunteered within the community and was a founding board member of the non-profit Give Every Child a Chance where she tutored for over 15 years.  She volunteered at the Manteca Historical Museum, was an officer in the Manteca Federated Women's Club and was an active member of her church.  

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Diana Durham and Pamela Runge, sons-in-law James Durham and Mike Runge and daughter-in-law Marcia Moore. She also left behind her sister Caroline Lane, grandchildren, Terry Durham, Tom Durham, Kelsey Kuntz, Andrew Moore and Michael Runge and 7 great-grandchildren.  Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Warram, her brother, James Warram, son, Paul Moore and grandson Tyler Gentleman.  

Services will be held on September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church 910 East North St., Manteca.
