Rodney McLeary
Sept. 7, 1973 to February 6, 2016
McCleary bw

Rodney was born in Manteca to Rod and Brenna McCleary.  His mom was at the hospital for 30 minutes before he made his début.  He left this world on Sunday, February 7, 2016 just as fast as he came into it on September 7, 1973.
He started racing go-karts when he was 5 years old, then to the modified class and finally graduated to mini-cup series.  Boy did he think he was a hot-shot — thus the name Hot Rod! It’s ironic he passed away at his home on Sunday from a tragic 4 wheel vehicle accident.  Rodney lived in Manteca his entire life attending New Haven Elementary School graduating in the East Union High School class of 1991 where he played freshman football and 4 years of high school baseball.
He attended Modesto Junior College for one semester, worked at Super Store Industries for 13 years, was co-owner of A & E Landscaping for a number of years,  worked for Richard A. Heaps, Preston Pipeline, Mountain Cascade, and California Landscaping.  Rod was a true “Jack-of-all-Trades.  He could do just about anything you needed and would give you the shirt off his back.  He loved his children, parents, friends, playing darts, going to the races, pouring concrete, building fences, having a spectacular garden in the summer, riding quads and drinking beer.  He worked hard and played hard. He played recreation softball and coached both Meagan and Tyler’s Little League Teams.
He is survived by the loves of his life, his children, Meagan (Cody) Gleason and Tyler McCleary (and Ashley), his parents (whom he loved dearly) Rod and Brenna McCleary, his sister Darci (Damon) Eisenga, his nieces Morgan and Mekenna Eisenga, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins especially Scott Hiatt, Brock Hiatt and Brian McCleary and an abundance of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Homer and Ruby McCleary, James Rice, and Lloyd and Betty Cole and his Aunt Susie Aragon.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the FESM Hall, 220 N. Main Street, Manteca at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to the American Legion Post #249’s ADA Fund, P.O. Box 249, Manteca, CA  95336 or the charity of your choice.
