It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Kalebjian, a devoted husband, father, brother, and dedicated law enforcement officer.
Richard’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Kalebjian; his son, Richard Kalebjian Jr.; and his stepchildren and their families: David Castellanos, Melisa Power, Jesse Castellanos, Daniel Esenwein, Dennis Esenwein, and David Esenwein. He is also survived by his brother, Harry Kalebjian, and his family.
Richard found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved riding motorcycles, going on cruises, enjoying popcorn and movies, and starting his mornings with coffee and good conversation with friends.
Richard began his distinguished law enforcement career in 1977 with the Arizona Highway Patrol before returning to California. He worked with the Escalon Department of Corrections and the Stockton Police Department before ultimately settling at the Ripon Police Department, where he dedicated 30 years of service in roles including Patrolman, DUI Enforcement Officer, SWAT, K-9 Officer, and Narcotics Officer.
Richard’s legacy of honor, courage, and dedication to protecting and serving others will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his career.
A service to honor and celebrate Richard’s life will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Ripon, CA. The Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a reception. Interment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon, CA, is a private family affair. If you would like to send flowers, please send to Deegan Funeral Chapel directly.
