Rae Ann Rudd, 73, passed away peacefully in her Manteca home, surrounded by family, on Nov. 20, 2013. A 40-year resident of Manteca, she was born in her home on Dec. 17, 1940 in San Juan Bautista, California. She graduated with highest honors from San Benito High School and attended San Joaquin Delta College. Married for over 57 years to her husband, Claude, with whom she had five children, she was both homemaker and manager of her husband’s optometry practice. She was a founding member of Manteca Quilters.
To say Rae Ann enjoyed travel would be an understatement. A seasoned traveler, she enjoyed planning the numerous trips she took with her husband throughout Europe and North America. A voracious reader, she enjoyed quilting and handiwork, but her great joy was spending time with her family. No mention of Rae Ann would be complete without mentioning her friendly smile, hearty laugh, and generous nature. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband and caregiver, H. Claude Rudd, daughters Robin Rudd Gonzales (Robert) and Tamara Rudd; grandchildren Scott Rudd (fiancé, Ty Stevens), Brian Gonzales, Christopher Rudd, Logan Rudd, and Shae Gonzales; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Audrey Rogers Wyllie and Iona Rogers Flink (James). She was preceded in death by her children, Stephen Rudd, Alan Rudd, and Tiffany Rudd, her brother Philo Rogers (Esther) and her parents Vester and Reva Rogers.
A private memorial was held on Nov. 25, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1060 La Avenida, Mountain View, California 94043.
