The family of Mrs. Peggy Lou Deaver, wishes to share the news that Peggy passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022. On September 26, 1945, Peggy was born to Harvey and Anna Maples, in Portland, Oregon.

Peggy has been preceded in death, by her loving parents, Harvey and Anna Maples, her brother Albert Maples of Missouri and her dear son Billy Ray Deaver, of California.

She leaves behind her loving husband Ray Deaver of 60 years, their sons, Sean William Deaver, of Modesto, CA., Brian Allen Deaver (Sandra), of Manteca, CA., Bradley Wayne Deaver (Lynn), of Winston, Oregon. Her siblings, Leona Keen, of Seaside, CA., Cindy Tollison of Pahrump, Nevada, Patty Mosley of Valley Springs, CA., Jimmy Ferguson of Manteca, CA., and Danny Maples of Arkansas. Peggy has many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Peggy’s family eventually settled in Watsonville, California. Peggy attended Watsonville High school, where she met the love of her life Mr. Ray Deaver. She met Ray when she was just 17, and Ray was 16, they married in a church wedding in Watsonville, CA. and began a lifelong marriage of 60 years. They built a family and a life together and they were committed to their marriage and family life. Ray and Peggy were blessed with four amazing boys. They did a lot of camping together and spent countless hours building thousands of memories that evolved into some incredible stories. Like heading out of the central valley, where it was so hot, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. They ended up in Shasta for their camping trip, where it rained buckets and they had to run into town and find a new wardrobe, for

everyone. Peggy was outside cooking for her family during the storm. After that experience Ray and Peggy decided cabins were the way to camp.  She loved camping, fishing, and the 49ers! Ray and the family loved her cooking and she enjoyed providing for them, through the love of a good home cooked meal. Peggy was a strong woman, fiercely

protective of her family, and you could count on the truth from her because she always spoke her mind.

Peggy worked for years in the food service industry where she loved meeting new people and the

restaurant was just another way for her to take care of people.

Peggy’s family will honor her life on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., her Funeral Service will be located at Franklin & Downs Funeral Home located at 1050 McHenry Avenue, Modesto CA, and her committal services will immediately follow at Lakewood Memorial Park located at 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA.
