Olive Ruth Mello, age 82, entered into rest on May 31, 2013 in Modesto.  She was born on December 24, 1930 in California.  She was a lifetime resident of Manteca.

Olive leaves behind her husband, Tony Mello Sr., and 4 children, Judy (Dick) McGovern, Ruth (Don) Gillihan, Tony (Debbie) Mello Jr. and Elizabeth Bost.  She was blessed with 18 grandchildren 25 great grandchildren,  and 6 great great grandchildren.  She also leaves behind 2 sisters and 1 brother.

We will dearly miss her sweet smile.

Ruth enjoyed years of devoted service with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, CCD at St. Anthony’s Church and teacher’s aide in the Manteca Unified School District.

Volunteering was very rewarding for her.  A few organizations she enjoyed were the March of Dimes, Baby Clinic, and PTA.  She also participated in the Legend of Mary.

PL Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Mello family.  A Rosary will be on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca. Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca at noon on Friday June 7, 2013.  Final resting place will be St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S.
