Born in Stockton, CA on February 26, 1948, Michael Edward Costa entered into

rest on October 29, 2023, in French Camp, CA at the age of 75. 

   He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Costa, parents Andrew and Rena Costa, brother Gary Costa, and niece Kim Costa.     Mike is survived by his loving family; wife Linda Costa, sister-in-law Joan Costa, children Claudia Costa-DeGroot (Nick), Michael Costa (Darlene), Mindy Costa Downing (Mark), nephew Paul Costa, eight grandchildren; Derek DeGroot (Bomnara), Dallen DeGroot, Brittany Costa, Harley Hooks (Tyler), Destinee Downing, Jordyn Costa, Mercades DeGroot, and Marissa Downing, and one great-grandchild, Liana DeGroot.

   Mike grew up in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School in 1966. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Italian Catholic Federation (ICF). For 35 years, he was a heavy equipment operator in the road construction industry as a member of the Operating Engineers union. Mike also loved taking care of the family ranch; having lived there since he was one year old.  Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He loved his family immensely. He enjoyed going to his children and grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events. His favorite place to vacation was Santa Cruz.  Other hobbies included taking his 1951 Pontiac Chieftan to car shows.

   P.L. Fry and Son is honored to serve Michael's family. Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00.p.m. immediately followed by a Rosary at P.L. Fry and Son. A prayer service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca, CA. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S, Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA.
