Longtime Tracy resident Marie A. Alegre (Macedo/Hardin) went to the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2025 after a long illness associated with Alzheimer's. Marie was born on October 2, 1939, at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp to parents Frank and Emilia Alegre.
She was raised on the family dairy ranch on Lammers Road, graduating from Tracy High School in 1958 and Adrian’s Beauty School in Stockton the following year. Marie worked for many years as a medical assistant at Eaton Avenue Medical Group. In 1959, Marie married the love of her life Richard Macedo from Manteca. Marie and Richard lived all over California from San Bernardino to Shasta counties and many areas in between. Marie was a wonderful mother to four sons, Rick (Suzanna), Dave (Deana), Chris (Teena), and Jim (Quenny); and a doting grandmother to seven grandchildren (Danielle, Jared (Jessica), Adrian, (Hannah), Allegra, Wyatt, J.T., and Joey), and four great-grandchildren (June, Maddox, Kenley and Turner).
Marie is survived by her sister-in-law Linda Alegre, many nieces and nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands Richard, Clyde Hardin, and brothers Frank Alegre and Leonard Alegre, and sisters Emily Silveria, Rita Alegre, Tilly Fagundes, and in-laws Manual and Mary Macedo.
A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, with visitation from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 West Eaton Avenue. She will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. at Lawncrest Memorial Park, 1522 East Cypress Avenue, Redding, California on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Marie will be remembered for her strength after the early passing of her husband Richard and for the unwavering love she gave her sons and their families, and the numerous family and friends that shared in her fruitful life.
