Mac Eddie Freeman passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the age of 79. Born on January 17, 1944
in Caddo, Oklahoma to parents, Eddie and Hazel Freeman.
His family moved to California soon after. Mac attended Lathrop Elementary School, Manteca High School (Class of 1961),
San Joaquin Delta College and worked at Tracy Defense Depot and Sharpe Army Depot for over 30 years.
He was happily married to Violet, the love of his life, for over 50 years until her death in 2019. They lived to see all three of their children happily married. He loved carpentry, flying, gardening, reading books, sports and
spending time with his children and 10 grandchildren.
He was active in the Lathrop Brethren Church for over 40 years. He helped build a new church on J Street and served as Camp Director for Camp Berea
in the 1980’s. Throughout his adult life, he was involved with his town of
Lathrop, including being a charter member of the City Council and serving as its third mayor. He served the city in many capacities and also helped it become a city.
He lived in Lathrop for over 70 years and loved every bit of it. He will be remembered for his laughter, good humor and friendliness.
Surviving children are Aaron (Amy) Freeman of Manteca, Ca., Jason (Sawndella) Freeman of
Copperopolis, Ca. and favorite daughter, Dena (Brent) Ugalde of Modesto, Ca. Ten grandchildren
are Jaycob, Sierra, Skyler, Cooper, Brooke, William, Jack, Alexander, Chanel and Chloe.
There will be a public service on Saturday, December 9th, at 2:00 p.m. located at Grace Community Church, 850 J Street in
Lathrop.
