Lois passed away peacefully at Doctors Hospital of Manteca, Monday, February 24, 2025, at the age of 94. She lived a long and full life. Born in Alameda, California, she grew up there and was a long–time member of the Alameda Christian Reformed Church (CRC), where she met Bob O'Connor when he moved from Southern California to the Bay Area to attend medical school. Bob and Lois married on January 27, 1956, during Bob's last year in medical school.
In 1972, she and her family moved to Lafayette, where she and Bob were an important pillar at the Walnut Creek CRC (now Faith Christian Fellowship) for many years. They loved to cook and entertain, sometimes for as many as 50–60 people! In 2018, she moved to Ripon and enjoyed playing weekly board games with neighbors and planning her schedule around Warriors games.
She is preceded in death by husband Robert (Bob), after 62 years of marriage; her father and mother Teake and Henriette Workman; her sister Gertrude DeJong; and her brother Jim Workman. She is survived by her three devoted children; her daughter Leslie; her sons, Brian and Kevin (Wife – Tricia). She has four grandchildren; Brian's children, Dylan and Kennedy (Husband — Luke); and Kevin and Tricia's children Kyler and Kali. She is also survived by her great–grandchildren, Ryan, Drew, and Ella, Kennedy and Luke's children.
A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2025, at 11 am, at the Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church, 333 Wilma Ave., Ripon, CA. 95366.
