Linda Snelling obit

Linda Snelling, 76, of Manteca, California died on September 24, 2024. Linda was born in Oildale, California, grew up in Merced, California, and lived in Manteca for nearly 50 years.

Linda was a kind and loving person, described as an angel by many. Her devotion and care-taking was only matched by her love of adventure and nature. She lived a life full of foreign travel and outdoor sports and activities.

Linda was a devoted special education teacher with San Joaquin County Schools, where, toward the end of her career, she specialized in working with students with autism. She often kept up with her students’ lives long after they left her classroom.  Linda lived in the Philippines as a newly married young adult and, after being widowed in her 30s, did not let it stop her from taking her children on foreign adventures and camping road trips. When her children went off to college, she started traveling, hiking, and kayaking with friends, traveling to dozens of countries and filling her national parks passport book. When she wasn’t adventuring, she was spending time with her beloved grandchildren and many lifelong friends.

Linda was predeceased by her husband Alvis Snelling and parents Ross and Fern Farthing. She is survived by children; Emily and Matthew, Matthew’s wife Valerie, and grandchildren Alia, Esme, and Jude.

Please call 928-202-7129 for information about memorial services. Memorial donations can be made to Mercy Corps or San Joaquin Humane Society.
