Joyce was born in Hanford, California, on February 1, 1941, the second child of Leendert and Marie Maliepaard. The Maliepaard family eventually moved to Ripon, California, where Joyce graduated from Ripon Christian High School in 1958. Joyce met Harold Van Till while both were active in the youth group at First Christian Reformed Church in Ripon, marrying on February 27, 1959, halfway between her birthday and his on March 28. They were happily married for 31 years until Harold passed away. Joyce has now followed him, after battling dementia for the last several years. She is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

   Joyce is survived by children; Cynthia (Leonard) Van Elderen, Susan (Matthew) Visser, Sophia (Scott) Pickering, and Caesar Benjamin (Michelle) Van Till; siblings; Anita (John) Roos, Nancy King, Leonard Maliepaard, Marilyn Adams, Patricia (Daniel) Van Groningen; fifteen grandchildren; and seven  great-grandchildren.
