Joy Madeline Dariz
August 8, 1946-July 1, 2013

   Joy Madeline Dariz, age 66, entered into rest on July 1, 2013 in Manteca.  She was born on August 8, 1946 in Washington, D.C. to the late Art and Ruth Council.  She is  preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Joseph Dariz. She was a resident of Manteca for 14 years and previously a resident of Linden for 18 years.
   Joy leaves behind her children, Mark Dariz (Sue) of Atascadero, Deana Thornton (Mike) of Manteca and Dominic Dariz of Utah.  She was blessed with five grandchildren, Alyssa Thornton, Timothy Thornton, Amanda Dariz, C.J. Dariz and Dominic Dariz II.  Joy also leaves behind four siblings, Bill Council (Sheila) of Texas, Tom Council (Lynel) of Texas, Barbara Phillips (Jim) of Arkansas and Theresa Longley (John) of Oregon.
   Joy was a homemaker for over 47 years.  She attended cosmetology school in Stockton where she received her cosmetology license.  Along with her late husband, she owned and operated Mayfair Beauty Salon in Stockton in the 1970’s.  Joy had many talents as a bookkeeper and teacher’s aide, and operated many businesses with her late husband.  More recently, she had volunteered for the Doctors Hospital of Manteca Auxiliary for nine years ,  where she served as President for two years.  She also recently volunteered for the Delta Blood Bank.  Joy enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, watching the Oakland A’s, connecting with friends and family on her I-Pad, and spending time with her dog, Bella.
   Arrangements for Joy M. Dariz are under the direction of  PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:00am at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Arthritis Foundation of Northern California, 3040 Explorer Drive #1, Sacramento, CA 95827.  An online guestbook is available at www.plfryandson.com.
