JoAnn B. Marx, 73, passed away Jan. 7 at Doctors Medical on Center, Modesto.
She was born JoAnn Lyons on March 29, 1935 in Granville, IL.
JoAnn resided in Ripon for a year. She previously was a Manteca resident for 45 years.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Eugene H. Marx, Ripon; children Gregory M. (Son) & Marie Burge of San Jose; Kevin D. (Son) & Sunny Burge of Illinois, Lavonne J. (Daughter) and Christopher Dempsey, of Ceres; step children Elizabeth Ann (Daughter) and Eugene Hartman of Washington State, Mary Louise (Daughter) and Robert Coleman Lawry of Modesto, Eugene H. Marx Jr. (Son) of Washington State, and James Dean (Son) & Debie Marx, Nebraska; grandchildren Lynn Burge and Donna Burge; and siblings Kevin (Brother) and Palma Lyons of Illinois, Patrick (Brother) and Donna Lyons of Illinois, and Joseph (Brother) & Linda Lyons of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her son Gary J. Burge.
JoAnn was a loving , devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She took responsibility practicing her faith and teaching her children by example as a lifelong commitment. JoAnn greeted everyone with a kind word and extended her friendship with a generous and sincere embrace. JoAnn’s spirit lives within us and our souls eternally enriched because of it.
Visitation is Monday, Jan. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, Manteca. Vigil is Monday, Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street, Manteca
Final resting place at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon.
