Jimmie Franklin Klutts, a beloved father, husband and grandfather passed away on June 2, 2024. Born in Oklahoma on December 4, 1938, although Jim was not born in Manteca, he considered it his home, where he built a life full of love, humor, friendship, and business success.

Jim is survived by his son Bruce Baxter, daughter Robin Bradshaw, seven grandchildren, David, Aaron, Sarah, Heather, Ian, Emily, and Trenton, and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anne Klutts, his parents Sid and Minnie Moss, and his sons Greg and Doug Baxter.

Jim served in the US Air Force from 1956-1960.  He loved sharing his stories of his experience working on Boeing B-47 aircraft.  Jim's passion for animals exemplified in his 27-year tenure as the proprietor of the Tropic Hut, a much-loved pet store on Yosemite Avenue with his wife Anne.  He was often found in the early mornings with his downtown business companions enjoying coffee and shenanigans.

Jim was devoted to his wife, Anne and he loved his family dearly. He was a “handyman” of the family.  There was nothing he couldn't fix.  He also had great patience and would offer to work on projects with his children and grandchildren.

Jim was known for his love of people, dry humor, and support of those around him.  His devotion to his wife and family was a testament of his kind heart. He will be remembered for his strength and his unconditional love.

P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Klutts family. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, 10:00 a.m.  United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 910 E.
