Jacob Heupel (Jake), 85, entered into rest on September 15, 2020 in Manteca, CA. He was born in Eureka, South Dakota, on June 20, 1935.
   He is preceded in death by his wife Marlene (Broadbent) Heupel, his parents (Jacob Sr. and Rosina) and ten siblings. Mr. Heupel is survived by his children, Vickie Horn
(Rick–deceased), Penny Heupel, Jim Heupel (Janet) and Loel Heupel (Nicki). He was blessed by nine grandchildren, Bryan Horn (Emily), Trevor Horn,  (Jenny), Rachel Valenti, (Anthony), Erin Gorham, (Mike), Jaime Cordero, (Chad), Casey Honeywell, (Craig), Dana Fitschen (Erich), Devan Heupel and Matthew Heupel, along with 15 great- grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Harry Heupel of Aberdeen, SD and many nieces and nephews.
   Jake was raised in Westport, SD, and was a resident of Manteca for over 55 years. He retired from the Department of Defense after 30 years as a welder. He enjoyed the outdoors- fishing, gardening, woodcutting, and NASCAR were some of his favorites. Jake loved to travel, especially to visit family. He treasured spending time with his family as he loved each of them. Jake will be remembered for his friendly personality and the friendship he displayed towards others. He never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who knew him.
