Helen Hunter, age 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 27, 2024, in Lincoln, California. Born on June 26, 1926, in Eufaula, Oklahoma, she became a resident of Manteca in 1944

   Helen was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Walter Hunter of 51 years, her son Dewayne, and her two sisters, Dorothy and Betty. 

   She is survived by her loving daughter, Judy Kulhavy and her daughter-in-law Kathy Hunter as well as five cherished grandchildren: Kurt Kulhavy, Ken Kulhavy, Duane Hunter, Gary Hunter, and Stacy Carter-Boriolo Helen also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever hold her memory close.

   Helen began her career working seasonally in the Manteca cannery and then in the lab at Kraft Foods for over 17 years and ultimately retired from Safeway foods in Stockton after working 21 years.  Helen was known for her giving spirit, sweet nature, humble demeanor, incredible memory and her love for basketball.  She was also known for her faith in God and for many years was a member of the Freedom Christian Center. She was the epitome of a loving  grandmother, nurturing and supportive, yet feisty with a perfect balance of warmth and determination. She cherished every moment spent with her family. 

   P.L. Fry and Son Chapel is honored to be serving the Hunter family. A celebration of life will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 , 10:00  a.m. held at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, Ca. She will be laid to rest at Park View Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Rd., Manteca, Ca.
