Harold LeRoy Hodges, 84 passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at home surrounded by his daughters. Beloved husband, father, pops, uncle, brother and friend.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ada, brother, Jerry Hodges (Joyce), sister, Marjorie Easter (William). He is survived by his daughters, Linda Hodges, Sandra Hodges and Susan Ayers (Jim), sister Velma Peterson (Don), granddaughters, Andrea Ayers, Amanda Nelson (Andrew), Alyssa Ayers, Alexandria Agudelo (Matt), Emma Ayers, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Harold was born on January 06, 1936, in Morrowville, Kansas to Columbus and Verna Hodges. They moved to California in the late 1940’s . Harold graduated from Escalon High School in 1955. He married the love of his life Ada, in 1959. They celebrated 51 years together. Harold joined the Army National Guard (118th Maintenance Company) in 1954. He became part of the Stockton Combined Support Maintenance Shop (SCSMS) in May of 1957, retiring with the rank of CW4 in 1992.
Harold dedicated his life to the Military. During his time in the Army National Guard he spent every summer at Camp Roberts in Paso Robles and Fort Irwin in Barstow, three tours in Germany and 89 days at the Pentagon. After retiring from the National Guard he worked for the army as an active military member in Sacramento. He spent time at Fort Irwin and Camp Roberts working as part of Dessert Shield as well as many other duties.
Harold enjoyed working on old cars, especially the other love of his life, his 32 Ford. He enjoyed woodworking, making many special items for his grand-
daughter Emma. Harold enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was always available for anything his daughters needed, mechanic, handyman, shoulder to cry on. In 2005 his granddaughter Emma renamed him Pops, and Pops he stayed.
He was a member of the American Legion McFall-Grisham Post 249. He served as Commander from 2004-2006. He was an active member of the United States Army Warrant Officers Association, NorCall Chapter, SCSMS Alumni group and spent many hours with Flags over Manteca. He was an active participant In just about anything his best buddy Rocky Wilson would volunteer him for, including many many hours in the kitchen at the legion hall and at the grill for the SCSMS alumni barbecues.

A graveside service with Military Honors will held at Farmington Memorial Cemetery beginning at approximately 1p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020. An Online guestbook is available for condolences at www.plfryandson.com. In lieu of flowers, the Family request donations be sent to the local food bank or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
A celebration of life to take place at a later date due to the Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions.
