George M. Silva, 87, entered into rest, Tuesday June 12, 2012. He was born in Tracy on July 12, 1924. He is preceded in death by both parents George and Isabel Silva.
George leaves behind his loving wife Elsie Silva of Manteca, his daughter Marie Teuscher and husband Michael of Fremont and a dear niece who was like a daughter, Marylynn Carroll of Manteca. George has four surviving siblings: John Silva of Tracy, Mary Alves of Tracy, Gertrude Dana of ID and Dolly Hiles of Elk Grove.
George was a Manteca resident for 55 years. He was a faithful member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where he was a member of the Y.M.I. He was a long-time director of the M.R.P.S and had served as president and treasurer of the organization. In his younger years he served his country through the US Army and was a proud veteran of World War II. George and Elsie enjoyed many trips to his WWII 44th Infantry Division reunions. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Arrangements for Mr. Silva are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. Visitation will be held Monday, June 18, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 East North Street, Manteca. He will be laid to rest at Tracy Public Cemetery, 600 East Schulte Road, Tracy, 95376.
