Born on May 26, 1931, Dorthy Mack, 89, entered into rest on April 8, 2021 in Manteca, CA.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Mack, Siblings, Margret Wages and Charles Grissom, daughter, Pamela Janke, sons, Alan and Mark Janke as well as grandson, Mark Lee Janke.
Mrs. Mack is survived by her family, children, Doug Janke, David Janke and Alden Janke, grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike), Tye, Jayson, Michelle and Mara Faye great-grandchildren, Halee, Alyssa, Emily, Tye, Zach, Austin, Chaselynn, Kaitlynn and Chase, brother Lowell Grissom, and sister Annabelle.
Dorthy was a resident of Manteca for over 60 years. Born in Aztec, New Mexico where she lived until shortly after graduating high school where she moved to Corpus Christy, Texas to work for the phone company. Dorthy left Texas with her small children on a train to Manteca where she continued to work for the phone company and raise her six children. Dorthy moved to Milpitas, CA to take a job at San Jose Hospital where she met her husband Robert the love of her life. In 1983 Dorthy decided to move back to Manteca to continue raising her granddaughter Jennifer. Dorthy purchased a residential care home “Mack Haven" in which she ran for over 15 years until she retired.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and was past president for the Women’s Auxiliary Club. She loved studying genealogy and was a member of the Boon Society where she was part of the 8th generation of Daniel Boon. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, attending community events and relaxing in the comfort of her own home. Dorthy will be remembered for her feisty spirit, for her caring heart and her devotion to family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
