Donald Lou Boyd
March 9, 1942 – July 9, 2013

Donald Lou Boyd, 71, of Manteca, CA lost his battle with Cancer on July 9th, 2013.  He was born March 9th, 1942 in Cleveland, OH.
Don was truly one of a kind.  He could spin a tail or tell a joke like no one else.  Honesty, integrity and generosity were the very core of his being.  He loved his family and friends, his dogs, his cars and his customers.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
One of Don’s greatest accomplishments was Boyd Brokerage, the food ingredient brokerage business he founded in 1984 and built into one of the most respected businesses of its kind in the country.  In addition to providing exceptional products and unparalleled service, Don shared his leadership, guidance and business wisdom with food manufacturers throughout Northern California.  He was adored by his staff and he had a profound impact on all those whose paths he crossed.
In his leisure time Don fancied himself an amateur landscape architect, interior designer and draftsman.  He loved foreign travel and truly appreciated art.
Don leaves behind his beloved wife, Laurel Place-Boyd of Manteca, CA, his two daughters, Suzanne King, her husband Don, and their children, Mitchell, Karlee and Savannah of Atwater, CA, Julianne Cosyns, her husband, Rodney and their children, Lindsi, Tyler and Emma of Le Grand, CA, his sister, Shirley Notaro and her family of Parma, OH, his rather unconventional extended family including Greg Galat of Camarillo, CA, Myrna and Mike Morehouse of Merced, CA, Shannon and Jeff Scott of Cardiff by the Sea, CA; Tracy, Jason, Amelia and Max Sharpf of San Jose, CA.
P.L. Fry and Son is honored to service the Boyd Family.  A Celebration of Don’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00am at P.L. Fry and Son, 290 North Union Road, Manteca, CA.  For condolences to the family please visit our website at www.plfryandson.com.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to either The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or ValleyCare Charitable Foundation at www.valleycare.com.
