David R. Lester 77, of Manteca entered into rest on September 29, 2015 at St. Jude Care Center. He was preceded in death by his mother Carol Lester.
David was born in Washington D.C. and lived in Virginia until early teens when he moved to Sausalito. He graduated from Tamalpais High and later attended Marin Jr. College.
David moved to Palo Alto in the early 60s. He worked ten years for Precision Instrument in Palo Alto. He started out as a production scheduler and moved up to senior buyer. He later worked at Siltec in Menlo Park. When they closed, he helped purchase the equipment for the Siltec, Salem, Oregon plant.
David married in 1963 and had two daughters. In 1984 the family moved to Manteca. David commuted to the Bay area where he last worked at Lam Research in Fremont as a senior buyer. After he retired he sold tools at the Roseville Flea Market and Stockton Open Air Market. He liked having garage sales and conversing with the customers. He was an avid reader especially entrepreneur magazines, enjoyed Dixieland jazz music and eating out. He was happiest in the mountains with his best friend Frank Cook.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne Lester, daughters Doreen and Vikki Lester and grandchildren, Brittany and Logan Enox.
A celebration of life will be held on October 11th at 2 p.m. at the Seventh- Day Adventist Church, 525 So. Union Rd., Manteca.
