Carolyn Ruth Schaapman went to be with her Lord on January 23, 2024 at the age of 89. She was born in Whitinsville, MA on July 23, 1934 to Peter and Ruth Feddema. 

   She attended Whitinsville Christian, Northbridge High School followed by Calvin College in Michigan. Carolyn met the love of her life, Allen, who was visiting her church in Whitinsville while on leave from the Navy. They married in 1955 and then made their home in Al’s hometown of Ripon, CA., where she lived for 69 years. Along with raising her four children, she taught art, worked at Manteca Hospital as X-ray technician and office manager at KFMR radio station.  

   Carolyn was a long-time member of 1st Christian Reformed Church of Ripon where she served in youth ministry, church newsletter, prayer team and took part in Women’s bible studies. Along with keeping up with her grandkids, she enjoyed painting and drawing, refinishing furniture, antiquing, gardening and camping. Many family trips were taken to the Sierras and the coast. Carolyn also served with Al for World Missions in Nigeria and Costa Rica. More recently she enjoyed coffee on her front porch with family and friends in town. She will be forever loved, and her humor, wit and infectious laughter will be greatly missed. 

   She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, granddaughter Justine Teune, parents, and her siblings Jean (Jim) Nydam, Jack (Bea) Feddema, Pete (Milly) Feddema and sister-in-law Lucy (Lee) De Heer. 

   She is survived by her children, John (Annette) Schaapman, Cindy (Randy) Croslin, Jean (Jim) Teune, and Lisa (Rick) Van Houten; her grandchildren Jennifer (Jesse) Forgues, Daniel Croslin, Joel (Caitlin) Schaapman, Angie (Jack) Postma, Jared Teune, Natalie (Cory) Cromer; seven great-grandchildren Holt, Levi and Gwenyth Postma, Rowan and Hallie Schaapman, Jesse and Jean-Pierre’ Forgues, sister-in-law Bernie Johnson, nieces and nephews. 

 A Private family viewing on Monday, January 29, at 4:00 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel in Ripon. Private graveside service Tuesday, January 30, at 10:00 a.m.  A Memorial Service at 

11:00 a.m. at 1st Christian Reformed Church, 305 Boesch Dr., Ripon, CA.
