Benjamin Hernandez Diaz of Manteca, CA. passed away at the age of 81 from bone cancer on Saturday, October 8, 2011. He was born in Michocan, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. at a very young age and worked in the agricultural field his entire career. He was head foreman for many ranchers such as Machado & Limas farms, all across the Central
Valley.
He is survived by his wife Victoria B. Diaz, his brother Agustin Diaz (Modesto, CA), and children: Manuel and Lillia Diaz (Delano, CA), Lidia, Alfredo, Arturo, Angelina Diaz (Manteca, CA), Jose & Oscar Venegas (Manteca, CA), Lisa Diaz (Escalon, CA), & Lydia Diaz (Austin, TX), plus a dozen or so grandchildren and great grandchildren from Mexico to California.
He enjoyed listening to Mexican music, playing cards, lottery scratchers, dominoes, and above all spending time with his family & friends, especially complaining about politics & religion. He was best known in Manteca as, El Mariachi o el Diablo, and walked through downtown Manteca on a daily basis till he no longer could. He was a brave man and fighter as he never let it known to anyone his own personal battle he had with bone cancer.
