Benjamin Alfred Goodwin
September 9, 1941-January 27, 2024
Benjamin Goodwin obit

Ben was born in Stockton in 1941 to Benjamin and Dorothy (Perry) Goodwin.  He was raised along with his brother, Paul Goodwin in Manteca at the Goodwin House on Highway 120.

He attended Calla Elementary School, where his grandma Emma Goodwin was a teacher.  He graduated from Manteca High School Class of 1959, then Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Ag Business Administration.  He began working for the California Beet Growers Association as the Executive Manager in 1971, he retired from the Beet Growers officially in 2007, but continued to work for them for several years.

Ben married Bonnie (Hulse) in 1966 and they had two children, Jeffrey Goodwin (Julie) and Randall Goodwin (Lisa) and two grandchildren Reed S. Goodwin and Marly E. Goodwin.

Ben enjoyed many types of adventures, which included spending time with his grown children and grandchildren at their house in Mexico or at the Cabin in Camp Connell. There were many memories from their houseboat on Lake McClure in the early 80’s with their dear friends the Marples and the Leatherwoods. A favorite pastime was working on & restoring various cars. Duck hunting and boating were lifetime pursuits.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Paul’s Food Pantry, Hospice of San Joaquin, or Manteca Historical Society.
