Barbara Mathis passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024 surround by her loving family and sweet little Bogie. Born on March 27, 1943, Barbara lived in Manteca for 56 years. She joins her beloved husband, Art Mathis, who passed away in 2020. Due to the pandemic, Art was unable to have a service at the time of his passing, but now, we celebrate their lives together.
Barbara and Art are survived by their loving children: Adele Hatfield (Dennis), Brian Hatfield (Jessie), Mike Hatfield (Sherry), Gina Dickman (Terry), Charm Mathis, Marty Mathis (Sara), and Randy Mathis (Sylvia). They leave behind a legacy of 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, as well as Barbara’s surviving brother, Steve Seidlitz (Maryann). Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Elaine Salaberry and sister, Cindy Butler.
Barbara dedicated over 30 years of her life as the HR Director at Doctors Hospital of Manteca, while Art was a respected teacher and coach at Manteca High School for many years. Their mutual support for each other's passions was evident in all they did. Art built stalls on their property for Barbara’s beloved horses, and Barbara supported Art in all his teaching and coaching endeavors. They were both active members of the Manteca High Boosters Club, reflecting their commitment to their community.
Barbara was passionate about animals, rescuing many and yearly, at Christmas, donated to Pets N Pals. Together, Barbara and Art exemplified true love and partnership, inspiring all who knew them. They deeply loved their family and shared wonderful memories of their children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
The family finds peace in knowing that Art and Barbara are reunited once more. A combined memorial service will be held to celebrate their lives and the love they shared.
P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Mathis family. A memorial will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. held at P.L .Fry and Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, Ca. A celebration of life will follow at the River Mill, 1672 West Bowman Rd., French Camp, CA.
