Barbara Cardiel-Jager, born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1943, and a cherished resident of Manteca for the past 43 years, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024. She was 81 years old.

Barbara was a woman with a heart as big as her love for life. She shared this love generously with her large, blended family. Her nurturing spirit was also felt by countless others during her 20-plus years working in the cafeteria at St. Anthony’s Catholic School, where she took great joy in providing meals to the students.

Barbara was married to Rick for 19 wonderful years. Her dedication to others extended beyond her family and work. As a devout member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church, she prayed the rosary daily and was actively involved with Sister Ann’s luncheons, the Legion of Mary, and pro-life advocacy through the church.

Barbara’s kindness and warmth earned her many friends. She never met a stranger, and her home and heart were always open. She treasured her monthly bunco nights and trips to local casinos. Barbara and Rick also enjoyed traveling, especially their most memorable destination being Italy.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband and siblings along with her extensive family of children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, all of whom will deeply miss her vibrant spirit. Her sweet and calm personality and the boundless love she shared with others will be her lasting legacy.

Barbara’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and community. She will be fondly remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
