Arthur “Art” Garibay passed away after a brief courageous fight with cancer. He was attended to by his loving family until the end.

He was preceded in death by his son Arthur Garibay Jr.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Jenny Villa Garibay. His sons are Maurice Garibay of Hayward, Victor Garibay and wife Becki of Manteca, daughters, Gloria Garibay Quesada of Manteca, Mona Garibay Padilla and partner Ellen of Hayward, Arlene Garibay-Cuddy and husband Steve. He was blessed by 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way. In addition, Art had 4 siblings: Phillip Garibay of Oakland, Louie Garibay of Oakland, Maggie Ramos and husband Bob of San Lorenzo, and Teresa Calderon and husband Lencho of Newark.

 Art spent most of his working life as a highly skilled upholsterer for over 60 years. In retirement, he enjoyed his grandchildren and loved attending their activities. An avid Giants fan, Art never forgave Dusty for game six. The game was always on at Art’s Bar, where he liked to relax and entertain friends and family. Art was a gentleman who carried himself with class, dignity, and self-effacing humor. Respected and admired by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.

 Mr. Garibay’s services are being handled by P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Rosary/Vigil will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca. A Mass will be held on July 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 505 E. North St. Manteca. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery – Escalon.
