Anna Jean was born in Lodgepole, South Dakota, and moved to California with most of her family in March of 1948. She graduated from Escalon High School. In December of 1952, Anna Jean married Richard Vande Kieft. Anna Jean spent the rest of their days keeping him in line, and he spent the rest of his days keeping her on her toes. They had two children, Ken and Donna, and raised numerous foster children including bonus daughter Tonia. Anna Jean and Richard were faithful to their family, community, and church. They served with Christian Beret, Ripon Christian Schools, and Modesto Christian Reformed Church. Anna Jean thrived on hosting; she always had the coffee on for
whomever stopped by. She passionately loved dogs her entire life and passed
peacefully at home with her family and loyal dog, Toby, at her side.
Anna Jean was preceded in death by her husband (Richard), grandson (Kenny), sister (Lorraine), and sister-in-laws (Alberta and Jennie). She is survived by her children Ken (Meg), Donna (Bernie), and Tonia (Larry), her siblings; Severn, Joyce, Marvin (Gail), Henry, and brother-in-law Glenn, as well as her grandchildren Antiena, Rachelle, Richard (Annette), Mara, Julie (Sam), Jenna, Daniel and Donald. She leaves
behind eight great-grandchildren and many friends.
In respect to her wishes, there will be a graveside ceremony at Ripon Cemetery on June 27, 2024, at
10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Care Home Health and Hospice or Ripon Christian Schools.
