Angelo Michael Cortese passed away on September 27, 2018.  Born May 15, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the youngest of six children in a first-generation Italian family. 

   Mike served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, graduated from San Diego State University, and  worked in Napa and Marin as a probation officer.  In later years, he lived in Florida, Manteca, and Sacramento.

   He will be remembered for his sense of humor, and love of babershop music, musicals, playing the harmonica, dancing, bocce ball, Dodgers baseball, beach walks and family gatherings.

   He will be missed by his daughter Risa Hernandez (Vince Hernandez) and son Jay Cortese (Nancy Cortese) and seven grandchildren, Sebastian, Ana, and Vincent Hernandez, and Emily, Hannah, Maddie, and Joel Cortese.

Jose Avina, born on August 15, 1944, passed away on December 25, 2024. A cherished resident of Lathrop for over 48 years, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Elda. Jose is survived by his two children, Adriana Dias (John) and Jose Armando Avina (Jenny), and his grandchildren: Alex, Regina, Lucas, Suzette, Austin, Jace. He also leaves behind his siblings: Luis Avina, Alejandro Avina, Carlos Avina, Rose Hernandez, and Jaime Avina.
