United Way’s Manteca/Lathrop Community Council will be hosting their second annual wine & chocolate event on Wednesday, June 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley at the 120 Bypass and Union Road.
The council will use all proceeds from the event to support local nonprofit agencies. Vendors at this year’s event include: Delicato Family Vineyards, Edible Arrangements, Gnekow Family Vineyards, Michael David Winery, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Sconza Candy, Silkwood Wines, Weibel Family Vineyards and Winery, and Woodbridge Wine provided by Assembly Member Bill Berryhill.
The Manteca/Lathrop Community Council works in partnership with United Way of San Joaquin County by helping to raise money for services that its residents use throughout the county. Council members promote United Way in the community throughout the year and encourage local businesses to support United Way by conducting a workplace campaign among their employees and by making a corporate contribution.
As part of this partnership, United Way agrees, when available, to help provide an annual amount to active community councils to be properly distributed by the members of the council. Once a year, the council will solicit grant requests from non-profit agencies that provide services to their community and will diligently and faithfully allocate the available funds for the maximum benefit for the people in their community. The councils review summary reports from agencies that received council funding.
The funds raised from the wine & chocolate event will be utilized to supplement the funds they receive from United Way of San Joaquin County to grant out to local nonprofit agencies.
Tickets are available for $15 by contacting Jennifer Christensen at (209) 320-6222 jchristensen@unitedwaysjc.org or Wendy King at (209) 612-7005 wking@musd.net
