STOCKTON — The Tidewater Art Center and Gallery will remain in its current location in downtown Stockton for the near future.
Discussions about a new permanent home are ongoing. An anonymous donor stepped up recently with a contribution to help the gallery keep up with expenses for the upcoming months. The gallery will begin developing a new fiscal plan and strategy for its continued growth over the upcoming years.
The newly introduced Tidewater Revolving Collection in the San Joaquin County Administration Building is available to the public during regular office hours. On July 8 Tidewater supporters and community volunteers will celebrate the second Art Walk of the season with a reception of new art and artists.
Next month on July 14, Whirlow’s Tossed and Grill on the Miracle Mile will host a fundraiser with the Tidewater Art Center, contributing 20 percent of funds raised to the Gallery. In addition, Tidewater is actively looking to grow its Board of Directors, artist members and auxiliary volunteers and is now accepting applications, interested parties call 209-463-4033.
The Tidewater Art Center and Gallery is a cooperative of local artists and a strong member of the downtown business community, having existed in its current location across from the county courthouse on Weber Street since its opening in October 2000. Its mission is to encourage awareness of and an appreciation for the arts, to sponsor education of the arts and to facilitate creation, instruction and display of the arts. The gallery exists on community support through those who get involved with fundraisers, volunteerism, and donations.
