Manteca Parks & Recreation is ushering in summer on Saturday, June 4, with a three-hour event designed to help parents explore recreation class programs for their children that’s also married with the “Meet the Muscles” car show.The summer kick-off event from 11 a.m. to 2 pm. at the Manteca Senor Center, 295 Cherry Lane, features free refreshments, music, vendors, bounce houses and an array of things on wheels including Hot Wheels races.The “Meet the Muscles” car show will allow kids and adults to explore the many varieties of specialty vehicles seen daily in the Central Valley including semi-trucks, farm machinery, tow trucks, police vehicles, and exotic cars. There will also be Hot Wheels races.People are encouraged to bring their Hot Wheels to race in one of four categories: toddlers and kids’ ages 3 to 6, kids 7 to 12 years, teens 13 to 17, and adults 18 and older. Staff and contract instructors will also be on hand to answer questions about Parks & Recreation classes, programs, online registration, swim lesson, Tiny Tots sports, summer camp, Kids’ Zone, and more.The event is free.Free Summer SplashWater Safety DayThe Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Manteca Fire Department is offering a free Summer Splash Water Safety Day on Saturday, June 11, from noon to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Pool on Powers Avenue.Lifeguards and firefighters will give presentations and hands-on demonstrations throughout the day showing children how to be safe in and around water.
