CORONA (AP) — Southern California police are searching for an expensive wheelchair stolen from the home a 4-year-old girl with Down syndrome.
Corona police say the wheelchair was stolen from the front porch of a residence sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
A police statement says the child is unable to walk and is dependent on the wheelchair for transportation, particularly to pre-school.
The pink wheelchair is identified as a Kid Cart Xpress made by Sunrise Medical and costs several thousand dollars.
Police said Friday that after word spread of the theft, charities and people from the community have raised enough money for a replacement that they are in the process of purchasing.
