LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Los Angeles dog that went missing three years ago has been found in Florida.

The Los Angeles Times reports Eric Hough’s grey pit bull named Bayou went missing when he lived in Echo Park.

On June 5, Bayou was delivered to a Florida shelter by police officers. There, he was scanned for a microchip that revealed the dog belonged to Hough.

But the phone numbers listed on the chip were no longer working.

Hough, who is now a professional BMX rider living in Huntington Beach, was tracked down and contacted about Bayou by a volunteer for Missing Pet Partnership.

The dog is being transported to California through 30 different legs of a journey that began June 27. The dog is expected to arrive Sunday night.
