Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show set for Feb. 23-25 at fairgrounds

PLEASANTON – Anglers from the Bay Area to the Oregon border and Sierra to the sea are prepping for the 2018 Pleasanton Fly Fishing Show, Feb. 23-25 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, 4501 Pleasanton Ave.   

The show’s annual edition features more than 10 seminars, demonstrations or audio/visual presentations each hour plus wall-to-wall displays of the newest fly rods, reels, fly lines, boots, waders, clothing and flies during the three day mid-winter run.

More than $40,000 in Fly Fishing Show® door prizes will be up for grabs.  

In addition to tackle, lodges and exotic destinations, show visitors can view continuous fly-tying demonstrations, how-to-do-it seminars and Destination Theater presentations ranging from trout in Montana’s Madison River to baby tarpon in Campeche, Mexico plus some 175 exhibitors, many with low cost incentives and show “specials”.  

Casting demonstrations are scheduled by Gary Borger, Jeff Currier Simon Gawesworth, Mary Ann Dozer, Landon Mayer and Wendy Gunn.

Featured fly tiers include Dan Blanton, Enrico Puglisi, Denny Rickards, Nate Brumley, Philip Rowley, and Borger.  

The local premiere of the 2018 Fly Fishing Film Festival will be held Friday, Feb. 23, at 6:30.  Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.   

Fly Fishing Show admission is $15 for one day, $25 for two days and $35 for three days.  Children under age 5 are free as are Boy and Girl Scouts under 16 in uniform.  Children under 12 are $5.  Military with ID are $10.
