LATHROP - More than 2,800 people have already registered for the Mud Run on the Farm at Dell’Osso Family Farm on Sept. 22.

The course is where the Survivor Mud Run that attracted 10,000 participants was conducted in April. This run - organized by the Dell’Osso Family Farm - has a definite Lathrop twist. One of the obstacles on the 5K course will be a pit filled with a mush created from smashed pumpkins.

The entry fee is $65 through Sept. 7. Registration is limited to 5,000 participants.

There are trophies as well as different age groups. The competition starts at 8 a.m. on Sept. 22 with participants starting in waves every 20 minutes.

Part of the proceeds will benefit the Emergency Food Bank of San Joaquin and other local charities.

The mud run is the precursor to the 15th annual Pumpkin Maze that opens Sept. 29 and runs through Oct. 31 at Dell’Osso Farms.

The daily event that also includes a haunted house, pumpkin blasters, rides and other attractions that draw up to 140,000 people a year to Lathrop.
