Two new sergeants and five officers plus one dispatcher were officially added to the Manteca Police Department’s team Wednesday afternoon in badging ceremonies in the City Council Chambers.

Veteran officers Rob Armosino and Bryan Holland were elevated to sergeant status following the badging of five new officers replacing those patrolmen lost in the economic cutback.

Sgt. Armosino was appointed to the Manteca department in 2004 as a police officer, level two.  In 2006 he joined the SWAT team and a year and a half later he was moved into detectives.  He earned his advanced POST certificate two years later, with another two years experience that put him into a sergeant’s position.

Sgt. Holland joined the department in 1997 and moved on into the detective unit some five years later.  In 2010 Holland was named to the Hostage Negotiations Team and became a field training officer in May of last year, having now retained the position of sergeant.

Sgt. Holland graduated from San Diego State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1997. He enrolled in the Modesto Junior College Police Academy soon after graduation.

Holland has nearly 16 years in law enforcement with special training in Forensic Video Enhancement, also serving as vice president of the Manteca Police Officers’ Association.  The newly badged sergeant has three children.

Playing guitar and basketball are his hobbies along with spending time with his children.

Among the newly badged officers added to the department is Daniel Skrimmager.  He graduated in 2008 from the San Joaquin Delta College Police Academy and was recertified this year by the Napa Valley Criminal Justice System.  Skrimmager has served Manteca for five years as a police Explorer and four years as a level two reserve officer.

Bowling, golf and fishing along with softball are his off-time pursuits.

Eugene Estrella actually came on board with the Manteca department as a level one officer two months ago, having worked nearly three years as a member of the reserve force.  A 2004 graduate of the Police Academy, he had served four years in the Navy and seven years in the U.S. Air Force as a propulsion jet mechanic.  He and his wife have four children.

His main hobby is playing the guitar with the Praise Team at his church.

Officer Benjamin Cromwell joined the Manteca Police Department at Christmas last year as a Police Officer 1.  He graduated from the Police Academy in 2006 having a total of nearly seven years in law enforcement.

Cromwell is married and he and his wife have two daughters.

Brett Anderson was also added to the force in late December as a Police Officer 1.   He graduated from the San Joaquin Delta College Police Academy in 2006 and worked for the Stockton Police Department for six years.  He and his wife have two children.

Golfing, and spending time with family and friends are his hobbies.

Joe Ahuna has a total of 20 years in law enforcement, having graduated from the Ray Simon Criminal Justice Training Center in Modesto in 1992.  He carries an Associate in Science Degree in General Education, Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Psychology and a Masters in Public Administration.

He, too, enjoys spending time with family and friends when off duty.

Garret Morrison joined the city as a dispatcher in November of last year and was officially badged on Wednesday.  Morrison is a San Jose native, but grew up in Manteca.  He graduated from San Joaquin Delta College with an Associate’s Degree in Business.  He is married and the couple has two daughters.

Cooking, gardening, cycling and spending “quality time’” with his family when off duty are important pursuits for Morrison.
