Yosemite was Manteca’s first elementary/grammar school

Photo contributed This postcard shows the old two-story brick Yosemite School that was built in 1914 for $17,500 plus $1,500 to buy the three acres. The 10-room school was gutted by fire on Aug. 7, 1948. It was replaced by the school that is now known as Manteca Day School.

Downtown Manteca has the laughs. It’s got more art. And it’s got a new community garden next to the Center Street tennis courts. Now the city is close to landing a food truck court.
