Year-to-year Ripon water use up 5% in August
water

It’s been a hot summer.

Residents of the City of Ripon continued their best efforts in conserving water.

Director of Public Works James Pease reported at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting that water usage numbers were 13 percent less last month, using the pre-drought August 2013 groundwater levels as the baseline comparison.

Usage was up by 5 percent higher, comparing that to August 2023 water conservation figures.

From now through October, Ripon will continue to enforce a three-days-a-week watering schedule throughout the summer months.

Residents living in odd-ending numbered addresses are allowed to water their landscape on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Those in homes with even-ending numbered addresses can do likewise on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

No watering is allowed on Mondays and between 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. or 48 hours following any measurable rain fall.
